Organ Dedication Concert Series

St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church presents an organ dedication concert series.

Ted Davis will present the second of three dedication concerts on Sunday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. Davis is organist and choirmaster at St. Bartholomew's, and is active as an concert organist and harpsichordist. His program will include music Vierne, Guilain, Bach, Hampton, Duruflé, and Rossini.

The third and final concert in the series will be presented by
Marvin Mills, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
and will include a newly-commissioned work by French-Canadian composer Rachel Laurin.

Admission will be free of charge, donations gratefully accepted.

St. Bartholomew’s Church is located at 4711 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore's Ten Hills neighborhood–about two miles East of I-695 via Edmonson Avenue (Exit 14) or Route 40 (Exit 15).

About the organ:
A unique collaboration between Casavant Frères organbuilders of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, and David M. Storey, Inc. of Baltimore, has produced a unique instrument. Casavant Organ Opus 2267, originally built in 1955 for a Catholic parish in Quebec, has been lovingly transported, restored, and expanded. It now resides in the Sanctuary of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Baltimore.

Baltimore organbuilder David M. Storey undertook the ambitious project of bringing the instrument into its current configuration. The project included included restoration of the Casavant organ, integrating some of the pipes from the former Moeller as well as some new ranks of pipes newly built by Casavant, and the design and construction of new oak façade case.

The result is a fine and glorious instrument of over 2800 pipes. St. Bartholomew’s looks forward to not only more vibrant music in worship, but also exciting musical offerings to the community.
